Pokhara - Lete - Jomsom - Muktinath (Lower Mustang) - Lo Manthang (Upper Mustang) - Kagbeni - Tatopani - Manang - Pokhara

Nepal is one of the most sought-after destinations for adventure tourism in Asia, offering world-class experiences in trekking, hiking, heritage exploration, and spiritual travel. Yet among all its adventures, nothing compares to the thrill of a motorcycle expedition across the Himalayas. With dramatic shifts in terrain, landscapes, altitude, and culture, Nepal stands out as one of the finest places on the planet for motorcycle touring.
Nepal is a landlocked country bordered by India on the east, west, and south, and by the Tibet Autonomous Region (China) on the north. The legendary regions of Upper Mustang (Lo Manthang) and Manang lie in the northern Himalayan zone, directly bordering Tibet. Their people, culture, and architecture reflect deep Tibetan influences, making these regions feel like a timeless extension of the ancient Himalayan civilisation.
During this 10-day Upper Mustang & Manang Motorcycle Expedition, riders get to experience the best-kept secrets of Nepal. Beginning and ending in Pokhara, the adventure will take you through Pokhara → Lete → Jomsom → Muktinath (Lower Mustang) → Lo Manthang (Upper Mustang) → Kagbeni → Tatopani → Manang → and finally back to Pokhara. From river valleys and alpine forests to barren highaltitude deserts and rugged rocky trails, the route offers everything an adventure rider dreams of - including some of the most challenging and exhilarating Himalayan off-road sections.

Day 4
Pokhara to Jomsom - 170 Kms

Today’s journey takes you from the serene lakeside city of Pokhara (830 m) into the heart of the Annapurna mountains as you ride toward Jomsom (2,700 m). The route begins with lush greenery, waterfalls and terraced valleys, gradually transitioning into the dramatic rain-shadow desert of Mustang. The ride is a mix of paved sections and rugged off-road trails, with the Kali Gandaki River accompanying you through one of the world’s deepest gorges. As the altitude increases, the landscape becomes drier and more dramatic, surrounded by spectacular views of Nilgiri, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri ranges. Reaching Jomsom gives a true sense of entering the trans-Himalayan region - windy, raw, and breathtakingly beautiful - marking the beginning of adventure in the Mustang valley.

Day 5
Jomsom - Muktinath - Tsarang - 90 Kms

Leaving Jomsom (2,743 m), the ride begins with strong Himalayan winds and rugged terrain as we make our way toward Muktinath (3,800 m), one of Nepal’s most sacred pilgrimage sites for both Hindus and Buddhists. The ascent to Muktinath offers magnificent views of Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri ranges, with winding trails, river crossings, and classic Mustang desert landscapes. After visiting the holy temple and exploring the serene village surroundings, we continue the journey deeper into the restricted Upper Mustang region. The landscape turns drier and more dramatic as we ride through the Kali Gandaki basin, crossing indswept plateaus and ancient settlements before reaching Tsarang (3,560 m), a historic town known for its ancient monastery and royal palace. This day is a blend of spiritual heritage and thrilling high-altitude motorcycling through some of the most breathtaking Himalayan geography.

Day 6
Tsarang - Lo Manthang - Tsarang - 65Kms

Leaving Tsarang (3,560 m), riders set off toward the ancient walled kingdom of Lo Manthang, climbing gradually through barren high-altitude valleys surrounded by dramatic wind-carved cliffs and snow-capped Himalayan peaks. After arriving in Lo Manthang (3,840 m), you’ll explore its timeless streets, monasteries, and royal heritage before continuing further toward the mystical Chhoser Caves, a network of sky caves arved into vertical canyon walls that once served as monasteries and dwellings. The trail to the caves runs close to the Tibetan border and offers incredible panoramic views of the Upper Mustang plateau. Following the exploration, the ride continues back to Tsarang, retracing the scenic route through the rugged Mustang desert landscape and concluding an unforgettable day of high-altitude adventure and culture.

Day 7
Tsarang to Tatopani - 130 Kms

The ride from Tsarang to Tatopani takes you through some of the most dramatic altitude transitions of the Mustang region. Starting from the high-altitude desert of Tsarang at around 3,560 meters, the route retraces the rugged Himalayan trails back toward the lower Mustang zone. You’ll descend gradually through Lo Mustang, passing through Muktinath and Kagbeni, with stunning views of the Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri ranges forming a constant backdrop. As the landscape shifts from barren highland to lush river valley, temperatures rise and the air becomes noticeably richer. By the time we reach Tatopani at approx. 1,190 meters, known for its natural hot springs, the drastic change in climate and scenery makes the day’s ride both thrilling and refreshing - the perfect way to unwind after conquering the remote Upper Mustang trails.

Day 8
Tatopani to Bandipur - 185 Kms

The ride from Tatopani to Bandipur takes you from the rugged Himalayan foothills to one of Nepal’s most charming hilltop towns, offering a dramatic change in landscape and culture in a single day. Leaving Tatopani (1,190 m), the ride descends along winding mountain roads before gradually transitioning into smoother tarmac sections as you approach the mid-hills of central Nepal. The journey showcases river valleys, terraced farmlands, and vibrant rural villages before the final climb up to Bandipur (1,030 m) - a beautifully preserved Newari settlement known for its cobblestone streets, traditional architecture, and peaceful, traffic-free ambience. After the long and scenic ride, Bandipur offers the perfect reward: stunning sunset views over the Himalayas, cozy cafés, and a relaxing evening in a heritage mountain town.

Day 9
Bandipur to Manang - 150 Kms

The ride from Bandipur to Manang takes you deep into the Annapurna Himalayan region, transitioning from smooth foothill highways to rugged mountain trails as you gain altitude. Starting from Bandipur (1,030 m), you cruise through lush valleys before the landscape gradually shifts into alpine terrain beyond Besisahar. From here, the road becomes a challenging off-road ascent with dirt, stones, river crossings, and steep narrow sections - ideal for skilled adventure riders. As you climb toward Manang (3,540 m), the temperature drops and the air becomes thinner, but the dramatic views of Annapurna II, Gangapurna, and Tilicho Peak make every kilometer worth the effort. By the time you reach the traditional Himalayan village of Manang, you’ll experience one of the most rewarding and high-altitude motorcycling achievements in Nepal.

Day 10
Manning to Pokhara - 200 Kms

The ride from Manang back to Pokhara brings a dramatic change in altitude, scenery, and riding conditions as we descend from 3,540 meters in the Trans-Himalayan region to the lush valleys of Pokhara at 822 meters. The first half of the journey features rugged, rocky off-road sections with river crossings and steep mountain trails until we reconnect with the Annapurna Circuit road near Chame. From there, the terrain
gradually transitions into smoother gravel and eventually paved mountain highways as we enter Besisahar and continue toward Pokhara. The drop in altitude brings warmer weather, denser forests, and bustling villages - an exciting contrast to the high-altitude barren landscapes of Manang. By the time we reach Pokhara in the afternoon, the city’s lakeside atmosphere and relaxing vibe offer the perfect reward after conquering one of the most challenging motorcycling regions in Nepal.

Day 11
